But as owners of the current-generation Ford Ranger Raptor can attest, off-road tires are great on dry and dirt terrain, but definitely not on wet terrain.
With that in mind, Rendering presented by Drive.com.au floated the idea of a Ford Ranger Raptor RS version – with the exact same formula as any other vehicle, but with road-biased tires and rims.
With its twin-turbo V6 petrol engine, Fox shocks, and stickier road rubber, the Ford Ranger Raptor could be the most popular car ever. Let’s face it, if we’re really being honest with ourselves, not every Ford Ranger Raptor owner takes their vehicle off the road.
Ford executives, we mentioned the idea of saying they’re going to look into it, which could mean they’re just being polite – or they might actually be investigating the suitability of the Ford Ranger Raptor RS.
As it stands, there are no tires with the road-biased tread pattern and high sidewall profile of the Raptor. So tires need to be developed and tested and checked against the vehicle’s stability control system. Engineers, we spoke to estimate this process could take up to two years.
The Ford Ranger Raptor RS – if it becomes a reality – may appeal to buyers who want the look of a tough truck but are buying a vehicle for most of the road driving and epic comfort that Fox shocks provide.

2024 Ford Raptor Interior
Inside, the Raptorized Ranger will be slightly different from its regular counterparts. While we still expected an abundance of hard plastic and some rubber materials, Ford spruced up the cabin with exclusive content.
The overseas version offers leather and microsuede upholstery and reinforced front seats. In addition to a pair of aluminum paddle shifters, the steering wheel should wear a red band at the 12 o’clock mark, indicating its superior performance.
We anticipate it will offer the same standard and optional features as standard trucks, including dual-zone automatic climate control, heated front seats, remote start, and more.
The Ranger Raptor will probably only come in one configuration: a crew-cab body style with a five-foot-high cargo box.
We wish every Ranger Raptor had an 8.0-inch touchscreen with Ford’s latest Sync infotainment software.
That means Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and subscription-based Wi-Fi hotspots are standard features.
Along with a variety of charging ports, the wide-body Ranger will likely offer options such as built-in navigation and a 12-speaker Bang & Olufsen audio system.

Ford Raptor 2024 Engine
Ford Ranger Raptor with a 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged V-6 that is claimed to be capable of producing 392 horsepower and 430 pound-feet of torque. However, those numbers could differ slightly from the US version.
It’s essentially the same setup found on the Ford Bronco Raptor, which includes a 10-speed automatic transmission and standard four-wheel drive, complete with locking front and rear differentials.
Compared to its pedestrian counterpart, the Raptor will have a sturdier suspension and larger off-road equipment. Along with a higher ride height and higher ground clearance, it has 33-inch all-terrain tires that make for a wider front and rear track.

Ford has yet to release a fuel economy rating for the 2023 Ranger Raptor. Once they do, we’ll update this report.

2024 Ford Raptor Price
Ford hasn’t said how much it will cost. We expect its initial price to exceed the top Ranger Lariat (currently priced at around $40,000).
