The timeless bestseller has evolved into the modern era with an aluminum body, a turbocharged powertrain, hybrid options, an all-electric spinoff—reviewed separately—and all of Ford’s best technologies.

If you want a work truck, the entry-level XL has everything you need and nothing you need but climb the trim ladder and you’ll find a long list of desirable features—and a price tag to match, of course.

For those looking to venture into the great outdoors, there’s the dashing Tremor model, while the upscale Platinum and Limited trims pamper occupants with Lincoln-level luxury.

The F-150 doesn’t ride as well as the Ram 1500 or grips as sharply as the Chevy Silverado, but it’s very capable, multi-configurable, and very competitive.

In other words, it was successful enough to generate the kind of loyalty that kept it at the top of the sales charts year after year.

2024 Ford F150 Review: New Ford F-150 Refresh

Last September, Ford Authority (FA) reported that the Ford F-150 was expected to receive a mid-cycle update in 2023 for the 2024 model year, which falls right within the typical timeline for the best-selling pickup to continue after being treated with redesigns. for the 2021 model year.

This will provide six years of regular product cadence – three for the pre-refresh model and three for post-refresh pickup, as was the case with the previous generation. As for the back door, it’s still entirely covered in camouflage – so it’s hard to see any changes that might have taken place there. However, as FA reported last month, the 2024 Ford F-150 could debut with the new multi-function tailgate the automaker has been working on for several years now, which should help it better compete with Chevy Silverado, GMC Sierra, and Ram. 1500, all of which featured a multifunctional tailgate. As FA previously reported, a potential successor to the Sync 4 was expected to launch in the 2023 Ford F-150 Lightning, but that ultimately didn’t happen.

Ford claims that the new 400-hp hybrid powertrain — consisting of a 3.5-liter twin-turbo V-6, 35 kW electric motor and 10-speed automatic transmission — will offer a driving range of up to 700 miles per tank.

And can also power the onboard generator to keep power flowing at the job site or during a power outage. Buyers will be able to choose between rear and four-wheel drive with one of the available F-150 powertrains.

On our test track,During our test drive we noted a suitable ride and pleasant handling; high-spec models like the King Ranch come with a variable-assist steering system that sharpens response at low speeds for a more agile feel.

The Tremor model promises the most off-road capability; it offers 33-inch all-terrain tires, upgraded suspension, a locking rear differential, and a four-wheel drive transfer box borrowed from the mighty F-150 Raptor.

On our test track, the Tremor surged to 60 mph in just 5.3 seconds, trailing the more powerful Raptor by just 0.1 seconds.

Ford F150 Payload and Dimension

While the towing capacity of the base 3.3-liter V-6 engine maxes out at 8200 pounds, models equipped with the 400-hp twin-turbo 3.5-liter V-6 can tow up to 14,000 pounds.

Going with the respectable 5.0-liter V-8 means a maximum towing capacity of just 13,000 pounds; the diesel V-6 is capable of up to 12,100 pounds and the hybrid model can tow up to 12,700. Payload capacities range from 1840 to 3250 pounds.

This towing and payload capacity allowed the new F-150 to continue to compete with major rivals such as the Chevrolet Silverado 1500 , GMC Sierra 1500 , and Ram 1500 .

2024 Ford F150 Interior

The interior designations on the F-150 almost match the luxury cabin of the Ram 1500, especially on the high-end King Ranch, Platinum, and Limited Ford models. Premium materials are used throughout the cabin and plenty of storage space.

Additional convenience features are meant to make it easier for those who use the F-150 as a mobile workspace. For example, the 10-speed automatic shift lever folds flat against the center console to create a large flat workspace.

Similarly, the F-150 can be ordered with flat folding front seats that can provide a place to sleep. The passenger compartment is very spacious, with the four-door crew cabin body style being the most spacious and family-friendly.

At the rear, bed F-150 An optional onboard generator provides up to 7.2 kW of power to support power requirements at the job site or at tailgate parties.

Ford provides an 8.0-inch infotainment screen as standard running an improved version of the brand’s Sync 4 software, while a much larger 12.0-inch unit is optional.

It matches the Ram 1500’s optional 12.0-inch vertical-oriented display, but the Chevy Silverado and GMC Sierra are available with the larger 13.4-inch display.

Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are both standard, as are Wi-Fi hotspots; navigation, SiriusXM radio, and Bang & Olufsen stereo system are optional.

The new Sync 4 software provides over-the-air updates for future software releases, traffic and weather updates via an optional navigation system, and onboard telematics for fleet customers to help track vehicle location and usage.

Ford F150 2024 MPG

The EPA estimates the F-150 with its turbocharged 2.7-liter V-6 will deliver up to 20 mpg city and 26 highway. The twin-turbo 3.5-liter V-6 is rated for up to 18 mpg city and 24 highway.

The hybrid version has an estimated 25 mpg city and 26 highway. On our 75 mph highway fuel-efficient route, which was part of our extensive testing regimen, the 3.5-liter twin-turbo Tremor model delivered 19 mpg.

2024 Ford F150 Price

The F-150 is available in several body styles and bed lengths. While the XLT model is a step up from the base XL work truck, we prefer the added luxury of the Lariat.

2024 Ford F150 Release Date
