2019 Ford Focus Powertrain
2019 Ford Focus Powertrain The car sales suffer from the weight of the crossover, but that does not mean that the car manufacturers are just giving up. The compact range of Ford, the focus, is new and loaded with technology for 2019. A new interior and exterior design and improved interior materials will surely usher new buyers into the segment. Ford presented new directions of development of the European market in Germany, and the USA expects that from the second half of 2019 this model will be imported from China.
Emphasis will be placed on the new Ford C2 platform, which improves the interior, crash performance and aerodynamics to reduce fuel consumption. The wheelbase grows by two inches (53 millimeters) and helps to increase the cabin space while reducing front and rear overhangs. Torsional stiffness is improved by 20 percent over the previous Gen focus. The new focus even picks up the cues from the RS, using the same extruded foam in the rear under body cavity.
More than just a nice face, the slimmer focus body has been accurately optimized for improved aerodynamics, and Ford has succeeded in lowering the resistance factor to 0.250 for the saloon and 0.273 for the Hatchback. These are best-in-class numbers, which, with a weight loss of up to 194 pounds (88 kilograms), have contributed to reducing fuel consumption and CO2 emissions by 10 percent.
Ford is piling on the technology with adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, speed character recognition and track centering, which helps the vehicles to maintain a comfortable travel distance to the vehicles ahead. With Ford’s adaptive front lighting system with forward-looking curved light and sigh lighting, the focus also gains improved lighting. The system allows the luminaires to be pre-adjusted before reaching a curve, intersection or roundabout. Instead of relying solely on a driver’s steering inputs, the system uses a forward-facing camera to monitor road markings up to 214 feet (65 meters) in front of the car.
Other technological advances include a front display, an enhanced active parking assistant that allows the driver to press a button and complete a parallel parking train in front of the park, a parking assistant, and detection of pedestrians and cyclists before a collision. There’s blind spot surveillance, cross-traffic alarm, reversing camera, post-crash brake assistant, false route alarm and evasive steering support, which provides steering support to help motorists to maneuver a vehicle when a crash possible Is.
Fordpass Connect allows vehicle owners to perform various functions directly from their smartphones, such as vehicle location, vehicle status including oil life, fuel level and more, door lock and remote start for autofocus vehicles.
Inside, there is a wireless charge and an eight-inch colour touchscreen for the infotainment system. The focus is on Ford Sync 3, which is compatible with both Android and Apple CarPlay. Voice commands are available for various functions such as sound control, air conditioning and navigation. A B&O Public Address System with 10 675 Watt loudspeakers and a subwoofer is available.
In Europe, the focus will be on two gasoline engine decisions that offer several different power outputs. There is a 1.0-liter EcoBoost that provides 84 HP, 99 PS and 123 PS, and a new 1.5-liter EcoBoost engine that provides 148 PS and 180 ps. A six-speed manual or a new eight-way automatic are the only two transmission options available. The larger machine is equipped with cylinder deactivation technology and switches one off in 14 milliseconds or 20 times faster than backlash.
On the diesel side, there are new Ecoblue units with 1.5 and 2.0-liter capacity. The former is offered in two states of tune: 94 PS and 118 hp, with both 221 lb-ft (300 nm) delivering torque. Go for the larger diesel and Ford will reward you with 148 hp and 273 lb-ft (370 nm). For the first time ever in a diesel model from the blue Oval sets the 2.0-liter mill on steel pistons.
While Europe will receive the focus sedan, wagon and Luke, along with Focus active crossover and upscale focus Vignale, the U.S. market will receive the sedan and Luke along with future iterations of the St and Rs.
